Munnar Trek

This trek undoubtedly would rate as the best trek across the Western Ghats with spectacular views of the mountains, wild flowers in profusion, wildlife, pristine wilderness & summiting the Mesapulimala peak at 2640m before visiting the world’s highest organic tea estate at Kolukumalai. Camping out in the wilderness makes this trip memorable.
Starting the trek from an altitude of 1500 m, we gradually ascending to over 2600m, passing through sholas (high altitude rain forests) and grasslands which are typical to the higher areas of the Western Ghats . The area also has wildlife – notably elephants, sambar, sloth bear and the Nilgiri tahr - the latter being endemic and endangered. The camp is set up at an altitude of approximately 2200m. On the second day, trek will be along paths over the undulating mountain grasslands and ascend Meesapulimala - the second highest peak in the Western Ghats. This is a great opportunity to trek off the normal tourist trails. After descending, continue trekking through grasslands and high altitude rainforest till reaching the Kollukumalai tea estate. Spend the evening at the Anaerangal Camp at Suryanelli with a spectacular view of the Anaerangal Lake and the high altitude rain forests below.
